In a major move, the Médine Group has launched a Rs 2.6 billion expansion project to triple the size of the Cascavelle Shopping Mall, cementing its position as a prime commercial destination in western Mauritius.
The ambitious project, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, will add 19,500 square meters of retail space to the existing mall, with a new wing being built behind the existing structure.
The expanded mall will feature over 60 new prestigious local and international stores offering a diverse range of products, accompanied by new entertainment and dining options.
The expansion is expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities in various sectors.
According to Dhiren Ponnusamy, CEO of the Médine Group, the expansion aimed to drive regional development and promote sustainable growth for inclusive economic development.
“Our goal is to develop the western region while ensuring that our growth is sustainable and benefits the local community,” he said.
Joël Bruneau, Group Director, emphasized that the mall’s strategic location at the heart of a rapidly expanding Smart City, near a future private hospital and major infrastructure developments, making it an attractive destination for shoppers and businesses alike.
The expansion will also include new roads, bus stops, and parking facilities to serve the public and cater to the growing needs of the region.
