Mauritius Stands Firm for Palestine, 2 Cases Against Israel Unfolds
In response to a question from Labour Party MP Osman Mahomed, Mauritius’ Foreign Minister, Maneesh Gobin, reiterated the country’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause in Parliament.
The minister revealed that the Mauritian government is actively pursuing two cases before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), one focused on the Palestinian issue and another on the alleged violation of the genocide treaty by the Israeli state.
The government of Mauritius has consistently demonstrated its commitment to upholding international law, including on the Palestinian question, said Minister Gobin.
“The Mauritian government will support any initiative aimed at maintaining international laws, including on the Palestinian issue,” he emphasized.
Throughout the years, Mauritius has remained steadfast in its support for the Palestinians, regardless of which government is in power, whether it be at the United Nations in Geneva or New York.
The country’s unwavering stance has been a constant aspect of its foreign policy, underscoring its commitment to upholding human rights and promoting peace and justice in the region.
