Mauritius Telecom Unlocks 5G Speed for All at Rs 5

Marking a major milestone in the digital transformation of the nation, Mauritius Telecom (MT) has launched its 5G network across the entire country. The nationwide deployment of 5G technology represents a significant leap forward in the country’s digital landscape, offering unprecedented technological prospects for both individuals and businesses.

With MT’s 5G network, users can enjoy speeds of up to 1 Gbps, improved latency, and seamless connectivity, allowing them to connect multiple devices simultaneously without worrying about network congestion.

This technology will enable revolutionary innovations such as augmented and virtual reality, the Internet of Things (IoT), and will transform various sectors like transportation, production, healthcare, and sports.

The launch ceremony was attended by Minister of Information Technology, Deepak Balgobin, who emphasized that this technology will revolutionize various sectors, including healthcare, education, entertainment, and smart cities, stimulating innovation and improving the quality of life for citizens.

“Having a solid high-speed infrastructure is the key to a digital nation. With our mobile penetration rate exceeding 160% in the country, we are well-positioned to exploit the full potential of 5G, ensuring that every citizen and every business can benefit from this technological leap,” he said.

The CEO of MT also unveiled the company’s new 5G postpay and prepaid offers, marking a new era of ultra-fast and reliable connectivity for MT clients.

Two new prepaid offers are now available: Weekend Unlimited at Rs 35, which includes 20GB (10GB/day) data validity for two days; and Hour Unlimited at Rs 5, offering unlimited data for one hour.

To help customers take advantage of the numerous benefits of 5G, MT is offering discounts of up to 40% on a selection of 5G smartphones to facilitate migration from 2G/3G phones. Affordable 5G smartphones are now available starting from Rs 5,990.
