Emirates Reinforces Commitment to Mauritius' Tourism Sector

The airline has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Arabian Travel Market 2024 in Dubai, with Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial West Asia & Indian Ocean, and Arvind Bundhun, Director of the MTPA.

The strategic alliance, established since 2012, has seen Emirates and the MTPA undertake key initiatives to promote tourism in Mauritius.

As the airline has been operating flights to Mauritius since 2002, offering two daily A380 services, it has played a crucial role in the development of the island’s tourism industry.

Emirates has provided support to the local tourism industry through its passenger and cargo services.

“We are honored to have been serving Mauritius continuously since 2002 and playing a vital role in achieving the country’s tourism objectives through our partnership with the MTPA,” said Ahmed Khoory.

“With our two daily A380 flights, we have the capacity to transport up to 1,000 tourists per day to the island, and we aim to continue having a positive impact on the country’s economy.

We are fully committed to continuing our efforts to promote the destination to our global clientele.”

Arvind Bundhun, Director of the MTPA, highlighted that Emirates’ arrival in Mauritius had revitalized the country’s tourism sector by opening up new markets in the United Arab Emirates and enabling access to Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

“With Dubai’s hub serving over 140 destinations, Emirates offers global connectivity to the island. We are confident that Emirates will continue to provide an unparalleled daily service and we look forward to strengthened cooperation,” he added.

In addition to presenting the destination to its clients through its global network, Emirates will also leverage its vast network of agents in key strategic markets to support its promotion efforts.

The airline will develop special packages designed to attract diverse segments of clients and collaborate on joint familiarization trips with relevant markets to raise awareness about the destination’s offerings.
