3 Charged for Justice Corruption: DPP Slams Police Allegations

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has responded to the press conference held by ACP Dunraz Gangadin last Friday.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 18th, the DPP’s office stated that prior to the press conference, “the police had not informed the DPP’s office of these issues or the alleged cases of perverting the course of justice.”

The DPP’s office highlighted that during the press conference, the police officer in question made “serious allegations” against the DPP’s office.
These allegations are described as “baseless, unfounded, and scandalous” in the statement. It was mentioned that “the police officer made defamatory allegations against this office and its officials while investigations are ongoing and in the absence of relevant facts.”
The DPP’s office mentioned that they are awaiting the conclusion of the police investigation and reserve the right to take civil or even criminal action against ACP Gangadin.
It is worth noting that during a press conference the previous week, ACP Dunraz Gangadin stated that an investigation conducted by the Central Barracks revealed an alleged collusion between officers of the DPP’s office and motorists to cancel fines related to traffic violations.
The high-ranking officer claimed that two DPP employees were targeted, with imminent arrests planned. Three motorists were provisionally charged on Friday March 15th for perverting the course of justice.
