Government employees can now take a two-hour casual leave to manage unforeseen circumstances and urgent personal matters.

This policy aims to provide flexibility in handling short absences and can be implemented across all ministries and departments, considering service requirements.

Casual leave grants paid time off for immediate personal obligations, such as religious duties and leisure activities.

The Ministry of Public Service said that employees have previously requested half-day casual leaves for absences as short as one or two hours due to urgent personal commitments.

According to a circular letter from Secretary for Public Service, Koosiram Conhye, requests for the newly allowed casual leave should be processed by each ministry’s HR department.
