A group of 36 Mauritian pilgrims from Curepipe’s Sainte-Hélène parish, stranded in Bethlehem due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, will return home on Thursday.

This news comes from a statement by the Diocese of Port-Louis.

The delegation, led by Father Gérard Mongelard, will fly from Tel Aviv to Istanbul and then connect to Mauritius. The group was stuck in Bethlehem since Saturday.

Two other Mauritian groups are also stranded in Israel, but their return details remain undisclosed.

They had previously travelled from Saudi Arabia where they had been participating in a Muslim religious pilgrimage, the Umrah.

This situation arose due to war-related flight cancellations by various airlines to Tel Aviv.
