Mauritius Set to Embrace ESG and Legislative Changes

The field of corporate governance in Mauritius is on the verge of significant changes as the government plans to introduce new provisions and incorporate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards into the upcoming edition of the Code for Corporate Governance.

These changes aim to align corporate governance principles with recent legislative developments and assess companies’ strategies for their commitment to ESG practices.

The Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mahen Seeruttun, announced these developments during a gala dinner hosted by the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD).

MIoD’s role in promoting corporate governance was acknowledged, and the organisation expressed its ambition to make Mauritius a recognised hub for corporate governance practices.

Sheila Ujoodha, CEO of MIoD, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to advocating high governance standards within business operations.
