Free Medical Care for Child Cancer Patients

Parents with children battling cancer or at high risk of cancer have been invited to register with the Pediatric Oncology Cell, overseen by the Ministry of Finance.
A new scheme announced in the 2023/2024 Budget covers children under 18 receiving treatment in hospitals or private health centres, as well as those with significant cancer predispositions.
The state will take over medical costs until the child achieves remission.
This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families, supplementing previous subsidies of up to Rs 100,000 for overseas treatments and Rs1 million for cancer-stricken children.
