LPM takes on the State, PM over controversial postponement of elections

Linion Pep Morisien (LPM) has filed a complaint in the Supreme Court against the State, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Local Government, and the Attorney General on Monday, June 12.

This legal action aims to challenge the postponement of the municipal elections. LPM is contesting the constitutionality of the amendment made to the Local Government Act.

Me José Moirt, who is also a member of the party, stated that they will let the Court decide on Article 12(a) of this law.

Lawyer Rama Valayden, another member of the party, mentioned that LPM’s legal team will request a meeting with the Chief Justice. They are seeking an “early trial.”

The defendants will disclose their legal position in Court on June 22.
