28-yr-old Ukrainian woman arrested in drug bust at courier company

A 28-year-old Ukrainian woman has been arrested during a “controlled delivery” operation conducted by officers of the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (ADSU) at an office of a courier company in Pailles, Mauritius.

According to reports, the woman came to collect a package containing 1,005 grams of a substance suspected to be drugs.

The package had arrived from China on May 21 and was addressed to a resident of Morcellement Jhuboo in Trou-aux-Biches.

After suspicions arose regarding the package, officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section and ADSU reportedly examined its contents and confirmed the presence of illegal substances.

The package has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.

The Ukrainian woman is facing provisional charges of drug importation. She is married to a Mauritian citizen.
