Mathematics: Yassin Noor Mohamed wins ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan Gold Medal’

Mr Noor Mohamed Yasin, a student from the Royal College Curepipe, was awarded the prestigious Srinivasa Ramanujan Gold Medal and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 as the winner of the seventh edition of the Srinivasa Ramanujan Mathematics contest.
The award was presented by President Prithvirajsing Roopun during a ceremony held in Ebène.
The Mauritian team that represented the country in the Pan African Mathematics Olympiads 2023 also received certificates of recognition.
The Ramanujan Contest 2023, organized by the Srinivasa Ramanujan Trust and the University of Mauritius, aimed to popularize the work of Srinivasa Ramanujan and generate interest in pure mathematics.
The first and second runners-up received cash prizes of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively, along with a biography of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
In the Pan African Mathematics Olympiads 2023, Mauritius ranked 12th out of 32 participating African countries and secured the first position among the six online participating countries.
The team received a silver medal, and certificates of recognition for outstanding performance were awarded to:

Additionally, token gifts were presented to the other participants as a gesture of appreciation for their participation in the competition.
