Ombudsperson for Financial Services reveals backlog of 800 cases

Dan Maraye, the Ombudsperson for Financial Services, revealed that his office has resolved around 400 cases since July 2022.

However, there are still over 800 pending cases awaiting processing, a situation that has persisted for two years.

Maraye attributed the backlog to a lack of manpower, stating that they operate with a reduced workforce.

To address this issue, he conducted a training session for journalists at the Défi Media Group on May 29.

Maraye explained that involving the press allows them to act as intermediaries with the public in raising awareness about financial services.

He expressed satisfaction with the interactive session and expressed his willingness to extend the experience to university students studying finance.

Maraye believes that his office requires seven additional employees to effectively handle the workload.
