PM ‘predicts’ the outcome of Privy Council verdict for Constituency No.8

PM Pravind Jugnauth has reportedly claimed that he has “already predicted what the results will be” – referring to the high-stake case filed before the Privy Council by Suren Dayal, a Labour Party defeated candidate at the 2019 general elections.
Dayal is contesting Jugnauth’s election – and those of the two other MPs of the Jugnauth’s constituency (No.8 – Moka/Quartier Militaire) – on claims of electoral malpractices.
The case will reportedly be heard before the Privy Council on 10 July.
“A leader of a political party who thinks we’re heading towards general elections just because there’s a case. But, we’ve already won the case before the Supreme Court. They are the ones who are contesting the ruling,” he told reporters at the launch of a sports complex in Plaine Verte.
“Our mandate will be completed in November 2024. We have a year and a half to go. You will see what we’ll be doing until then.”
