Priscilla Balgobin-Bhoyrul elected President of Mauritius Bar Council with overwhelming majority

Legal 500 lawyer Priscilla Balgobin-Bhoyrul, a senior partner in the Dentons Mauritius, has been elected President of Mauritius Bar Council (MBA) with an overwhelming majority.

The purpose of the MBA is to improve the administration of justice, legal education, and professional standards and to promote collegiality and civility among all members of the bar.

Priscilla Balgobin-Bhoyrul received a robust endorsement with 246 votes, followed by Mrs  Poonum Sookun-Teeluckdharry (121 votes), Mr Chetan Baboolall ( 65 votes), Mr Jacques Tsang Mang Kin (33 votes) and Anoup Goodary(4 votes).

She succeeds Yatin Varma and will serve as President-Elect for 2023.

She will lead the new executive committee comprising Mr Bishan Ramdenee (Secretary), Ms Aguenele Virginie Carolyn Desvaux De Marigny (Treasurer), Mr. Nikhil Boolell, Mr. Roobesh Sooriehnanda Ramanjooloo, Mr. Harry Bansropun and Ms. Natasha Behary Paray.
