A woman of St. Aubin, in the south of the island, is reportedly being quizzed by the police after her 16-month female toddler received burns.

In her initial statement, the mum told the attending doctor at Souillac Hospital that hot tea accidentally fell on the little girl at the family’s home.

Due to the severity of her burns, the little girl has reportedly been transferred to the Burns Unit of Victoria Hospital, Candos, where she is currently admitted.

According to Defi Media, the condition of the toddler is said to be of serious concern.

The circumstances in which the tea fell on the infant remain unknown.
