Mauritius regulator raises fees for Subscription TV operators

Mauritius broadcasting regulator, the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), has revised the structure for licence fees for Subscription Television Broadcasting operators.

According to l’Express newspaper, the new regulations, the Independent Broadcasting Authority (Licence Fees) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2022, will direct affect MC Vision/Canal+ Mauritius, Parabole Mauritius, DSTV and Mauritius Telecom.

Instead of a flat fee of Rs 2 million per year, the licence will cost either Rs 2 million or 0.25% of the gross turnover of the company – whoever is highest.

The annual fees for public and private television have been revised to Rs 3 million.
