Even if 2022 seems to be ending on an optimistic note, it will be necessary to exercise “great caution” in 2023, Gilbert Espitalier-Noël, CEO of New Mauritius Hotels (Beachcomber), has warned.

In the latest edition of “My Beachcomber News”, the CEO reportedly spoke lengthily about the challenges awaiting the tourism industry next year.

“We have seen very encouraging occupancy rates and a gradual return to profitability,” he said, adding that the activities of Beachcomber Catering as well as and the group’s international operations are also growing.

However, certain factors are worrying to some extent, including the increase in interest rates, inflation, recession, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, airfares and the price of petroleum products,” he said.
