Mauritius Police step up presence around shopping centres, banks

With the holidays in full swing, Mauritius Police have reportedly put in place a series of measures to ensure public safety. From 15 December to 8 January, some 11,000 police officers will be deployed on a rotating basis across the island.

They are expected to present around shopping centres, financial institutions such as banks and exchange offices, and petrol stations, among others.

Police have also told businessmen, owners of shops and petrol stations that they can benefit from free escort facilities for their bank deposits.

All they have to do is contact the police station in their area to make the request.
