Mauritius Bar Council push for Court sessions to be broadcast live

The Mauritius Bar Council intends to push for some court cases and trials to be broadcast live. According to Bar Council President Yatin Varma, several representations to this effect have been made at the Council’s headquarters.

Varma said that justice “must not only be done, but it must be done in a visible and transparent manner.”

In a statement to RadioPlus on Wednesday, December 14, Yatin Varma said the Bar Council has written to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, Attorney General Maneesh Gobin and Chief Justice Rehana Mungly-Gulbul to authorise the live broadcasts.
