COVID-19: Over 600 hundreds cases recorded daily

Over 600 new positive cases of COVID-19 are being recorded daily, according to health authorities, who fear that the numbers could continue to rise with the increasing number of people visiting shopping centres, public transport and supermarkets in the run-up to the festive season.
Despite the increase, authorities claim the situation is not alarming.
“Patients are not showing serious symptoms of the disease,” said Dr Soobaraj Sok Appadu, director of New ENT Hospital.
“However, some infected elderly people are admitted to New ENT Hospital because of their co-morbidities”, he said.
Currently, 40 patients are admitted at the hospital. With three deaths recorded on Monday, social workers believe the upward trend should be closely monitored.
Some are pushing for the reintroduction of the mandatory face-masks in public places.
