Raoul Gufflet appointed as Group CEO of SBM Holdings

The Board of Mauritius state-owned SBM Holdings Ltd (SBMH) has announced the appointment of Mr Raoul Claude Nicolas Gufflet as its Group Chief Executive Officer (Group CEO).

Mr Gufflet joined the SBM Group as the CEO of SBM (Bank) Holdings Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SBMH, having its investment in the banking subsidiary entities of the Group, on 03 May 2021.

“He has been key to the Group’s transformation and the extension of his responsibilities will now enable him to take the leadership of the Group’s overall activities,” read a statement issued by SBMH on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius.

Commenting on the appointment, Sattar Hajee Abdoula, Chairman of the Board of SBMH said: “We have made significant changes over the last three years to make SBM more efficient and competitive. We remain strongly committed to disciplined strategic execution, cost-control and improving profitability. The Board of SBMH is confident that as Group CEO, Raoul Gufflet has the right capabilities and skills to deliver our strategy and to ensure an effective oversight over our investments.”

Raoul Gufflet, who is previously the CEO of SBM Bank, succeeds Andrew Bainbridge, who left in August 2019.
