Lawyer Rama Valayden and his wife have reportedly filed a statement at the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CID) based on “credible information” to the effect that a foreign sniper is in Mauritius to physically eliminate him.

Valayden claimed the same informant had warned that political activist Bruneau Laurette would be arrested on drug trafficking charges “and this is what indeed happened.”

The lawyer, a staunch critic of the MSM Government, said he wrote to a senior CID official but no investigation has been initiated by the police.

Valayden added that, according to his information, Radio Plus Director of News Nawaz Noorbux would also be the sniper’s target. The latter, together with three other journalists, each filed a ‘Precautionary Measure’ late last week.

“If something happens, this will seriously jeopardise national security and social harmony,” Valayden warned.

Taslima Valayden asked PM Pravind Jugnauth to “take off his blinkers” and realise that the “country is going to the dogs”.
