Mauritius inflation tops out at 11.9%

Year-on-year inflation rate topped out at 11.9% in October, the same rate recorded in September, Statistics Mauritius revealed in its latest report.

Year-on-year (Y-o-y) inflation stood at 5.8% in October 2021. Headline inflation for the 12-months ending October 2022 worked out to 9.9%, compared to 3.4% for the 12-months ending October 2021.

On the other hand, the overall inflation rate rose from 9.4% in September to 9.9% in October.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.7 point or 0.5% from 125.0 in September 2022 to 125.7 in October 2022.
