Rs2.6 billion overhaul breathes new life in Le Meridien Hotel of Mauritius
Le Meridien Hotel

Le Méridien Ile Maurice, a five-star resort in Mauritius along a kilometre of sandy beach in Pointe aux Piments on the northwest coast, has unveiled an extensive $60 million (around Rs2.6 million) refurbishment that sees the property reimagined.

With 261 newly designed guestrooms and suites, an adults-only wing, world-class spa and fitness centre, three pools and a choice of four restaurants and three bars, Le Méridien Ile Maurice is a must-visit for the most discerning of travellers seeking adventure and relaxation alike.

Beautiful Bedrooms
The 261 guestrooms and suites have been designed with modern luxury in mind, each offering stunning ocean views and an outside terrace or balcony. Bathrooms have been redesigned to the highest specification, complete with a separate shower and large oval bath, marble floors, plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries.

Adults-Only Nirvana
Nirvana is the adults-only wing of the resort housing 51 guestrooms and suites, with panoramic views of the sea or the resort’s gorgeous gardens. Alongside the well-appointed Deluxe and Premium Rooms, 16 Nirvana Prestige Suites boast a private plunge pool, as well as a separate bar and living area. The Royal Suite takes opulence to the next level with a space spanning 1615sq ft, complete with a spacious terrace overlooking the ocean, alongside a dedicated butler service to attend to your every desire.

Nirvana also benefits from a private infinity swimming pool and pool bar, a complimentary poolside tea, coffee and soft drinks service and daily sunset cocktail and canapés.

Innovative Flavours and Culinary Creations
Le Méridien Ile Maurice is home to four restaurants and three bars – Latitude 20, Nirvana Pool Bar (adults-only) and Papaya Bar, meaning guests are truly spoilt for choice. Nomad, with its open kitchen, expansive terrace, and 180-degree panoramic views offers international dishes whilst, for Mauritian flavours, head to the beachfront Zoli Mamzel restaurant. Other cuisines on offer include Italian at Paparazzi Restaurant and perfectly spiced Indian fare at Kumin Restaurant.

For the ultimate in exclusivity and romance, dine on the hotel’s jetty under the stars with the lapping of the waves providing the perfect soundtrack to your bespoke dining experience.

Escape to Explore Spa
Inspired by the rich traditions of European spa culture, the new look Explore Spa has been redesigned by world-acclaimed designer Paul Bishop. Created as a place to relax and invigorate, facilities include a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and plunge pool, plus Mauritius’ very first and only snow room, in partnership with Phytomer.

This icy new wellness feature is the ideal counterpart to the traditional sauna, offering a chance for hot-cold contrast therapy proven to provide many health benefits, including improvements in joint and muscle function, blood circulation and immune system. In addition, there is a hair salon, fitness centre, relaxation garden and yoga studio, alongside five treatments rooms.

Engaging Activities
Guests have access to a wide range of complimentary activities including kayaking, pedal boating, snorkelling, windsurfing, beach volleyball and tennis whilst the island offers much to do with the resort able to organise a wide range of additional activities including catamaran cruises, dolphin swimming, fishing, water skiing, scuba diving and mountain biking.

If you’re travelling with little ones, let the beachfront Le Méridien Family Kids Club take the lead, with a well curated programme of fun designed for children aged 4 – 12 years. The caring and considerate team supervise a wide range of activities, from water skiing and face painting to sandcastle building, crab-hunting and outdoor cinema screenings.

Weddings, Meetings & Celebrations
Providing a picture-perfect setting for weddings, exchange vows against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean followed by a waterfront reception plus dinner and dancing in the Chamarel Ballroom, one of the largest on the island. An additional five event rooms are suitable for a wide variety of events from meetings and conferences through to intimate dinners.
