MTC directors resign before being kicked out

Kamal Taposeea and Henri Leblanc, respectively president and vice-president of the People’s Turf PLC have resigned from the Mauritius Turf Club. According to Le Mauricien newspaper, their resignation came 48 hours before the embarrassment of a motion of expulsion that is scheduled to be voted on Friday during MTC’s Annual General Assembly.

The motion of expulsion read as follows: “It is proposed that the Board takes, immediately after its election, the necessary actions to remove as members of the Mauritius Turf Club Mr. Henri Leblanc, Jean Michel Lee Shim and Kamal Taposeea, who are directors and/or stakeholders of an organization that is detrimental to the interests of the MTC.”

The resignations of Tapooseea and Leblanc follow that of Jean Michel Lee Shim, bookie and financier of the MSM ruling party.

All three are stakeholders of the People’s Turf PLC, a direct opponent of the MTC as a horse racing organiser.
