Mauritius remains in top 3 of Absa’s Financial Markets index

With a score of 76 out of 100, Mauritius is still in the Top 3 of the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index, behind South Africa and ahead of Nigeria.
According to reports, Mauritius obtained the same score as last year, 76 out of 100, in the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index 2022.
The score confirms that Mauritius has a robust financial market, but with lower reported pension assets. South Africa ranked first with 88 points, with Nigeria rounding out the top three with a score of 69.
The report noted that the launch of the new pan-African securities exchange, Afrinex, in October 2021 in Mauritius, was an important step.
Mauritius reportedly went one step further when the Mauritius Bankers Association Limited became the first organization in Africa to be added to the list of participating public registries of the Global Foreign Exchange Committee.
