Student loans: Over Rs2.7 billion disbursed by Mauritian banks

Some Rs2.74 billion were granted as student loans by Mauritian commercial banks between 15 April 2013 to 31 August 2022.

According to latest figures published by the Bank of Mauritius, the Mauritian guaranteed loans of Rs75million.

The biggest lender was MCB (Rs1.83billion) followed by SBM Bank (Rs564million), Maubank (Rs133million), HSBC (Rs98.5 million), Bank One (Rs71.7 million), SBI (Mauritius) (Rs19.6 million), BCP Bank (Rs14.3 million) and ABC Banking Corporation (Rs12.8 million).
