Air Mauritius to add fifth weekly flight to Heathrow as from November

Air Mauritius has expanded its schedule with an extra Heathrow flight, citing “strong demand for travel”.

The airline will therefore operate five times a week between Heathrow and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (SSRIA) from mid-November to early March next year.

Air Mauritius had been scheduled to operate a fifth “Christmas peak” frequency from 13 December to 10 January.

However, this will now operate from 14 November to 7 March 2023, sales manager UK and Ireland Allan Owen was cited as telling TTG Media.

The additional flights will depart Mauritius on Mondays, with returns the following day. Air Mauritius will operate the route using an Airbus A350 aircraft.

“[It’s] now effective from 14 November 2022 through to 7 March 2023 (previously just covered the Christmas peak season 13 December to 10 January),” Owen said.

Some 83,621 people travelled from the UK to Mauritius from January to August 2022.

With the GBP selling at Rs48.80 (28 September), travel analysts expect the flux of tourists from Mauritius to the UK to increase considerably.

some 20,000 Mauritius are expected to travel to the UK this year.
