Mauritius now fully compliant with FATF's 40 recommendations

Mauritius has been upgraded on Recommendation 15 as being “largely compliant”during the 22nd meeting of the Eastern and Souther Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) Council of Ministers held on Friday.

According to report, this was the only outstanding recommendation for which Mauritius still had a rating of “Partially Compliant”. Thus, Mauritius is now “Compliant” or “Largely Compliant” with the 40 recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Mauritius was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mahen Seeruttun.

The meeting was preceded by the 44th Task Force Meeting of their Senior Officials from 28 August to 01 September 2022.

At the Task Force meeting, the Enhanced Follow-up Report of Mauritius with a request for technical compliance re-rating of FATF Recommendation 15 (New Technologies) was considered.

The Mauritian delegation also reportedly actively participated in several meetings of ESAAMLG projects.

The ESAAMLG Council of Ministers also adopted a proposal from Mauritius for the development of an International Corporation Review Group (ICRG) Toolkit and Methodology to support countries in the ICRG follow-up process using the experience gained by Botswana and Zimbabwe.
