Butterfish to be removed from list of 'controlled fish species'

Mauritius will remove Butterfish from its list of “Controlled Fish Species”, according to a Cabinet decision.

Butterfish is transhipped through Port Louis.

Being included in the list of “Controlled Fish Species”, it is not authorised for import for sale on the local market unless there is a shortage of frozen fish.

Cabinet has decided that after some operators have expressed their interest to import the fish, it will be available for the local market.
