New firm plans to join Mauritius Oxygen production market

A new medical oxygen production plant could soon be set up by Blue Oxygen Ltd in Pointe-aux-Sables.

According to media reports, the project, submitted to the Ministry of the Environment, comprises the production of 2,000 oxygen cylinders per day, ie 150 m3 per hour.

The company intends to import its production equipment from India and manufacture cryogenic gaseous oxygen with a purity of at least 99%.

The main producers of Oxygen in Mauritius are Les Gaz Industriels, Gaz carbonique and Samlo.

Earlier this year,  Larsen and Toubro (L&T) donated an Oxygen Generation Plant (OGP) to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle.
