Labour boss to head opposition coalition, eventually presented as PM
Labour Party leader Dr Navin Ramgoolam will lead the political alliance bringing together the four opposition parties (Labour, MMM, PMSD and RM) for the next (and undefined) municipal elections.
Dr Ramgoolam will be eventually presented as Prime Minister at the general elections theoretically scheduled for 2024.
The announcement was made by Labour MP Dr Arvin Boolell after a meeting held among Labour’s Dr Ramgoolam, MMM’s Paul Berenger and PMSD’s Xavier-Luc Duval who is also the Leader of the Opposition.
However, it reportedly seems that RM’s Nando Bodha was not consulted before the announcement. The latter has often criticised Dr Ramgoolam.
Roshi Bhadhain, leader of the Reform Party, is also not reportedly part of the coalition.
“He has pushed himself out after being presented as a candidate to stand as PM.”
