Mauritius' 2022/2023 National Budget to be read on June 7

It’s now confirmed. The 2022-2023 budget will be presented by Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy on Tuesday, June 7 at 4 p.m.

The news was officially announced on Tuesday.

According to reports, the forthcoming budget has been described as “Herculean task” in a volatile domestic and international environment. Detractors claimed the Budget was an “opportunity to sort out the mess.” 

Meanwhile, the Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2021 /2022 for an additional Rs9.5billion was voted on Tuesday.

Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy said the budget deficit for the current year will be around 5% of GDP and public debt will be around 88% of GDP.
