Illegal forex dealer arrested with Rs1.7million of foreign currencies in trash bag

Rose Belle Police have arrested a currency dealer for running an illegal business of foreign exchange. 

The Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) conducted a raid in the illegal dealer’s shop in Mahebourg on Tuesday and recovered various currencies worth Rs1.7 million, including the USD, Euros, Australian Dollars, Saudi Riyals, UAE Dirhams and Singapore Dollars.

The currencies were hidden in a garbage bag, according to media reports.

The man has been provisionally charged with money laundering.
