PM visits police officer injured during protests

Back in the country, PM Pravind Jugnauth paid a visit to policeman Jimmy Baptiste, who was injured during the violent protests on Friday night.

Constable Baptiste was injured in the right eye and had to undergo surgery.

Some 16 other police officers were also injured by projectiles thrown at them. Several Safe City cameras, police stations and vehicles were demolished.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Police warned they will be intransigent towards troublemakers.

Violators risk being prosecuted for “Damaging Government Property” and face jail, Police claimed.
