MCB backs new cohort of Mauritius’ Future Fintech Champions

The Mauritius Africa Fintech Hub (MAFH) is pursuing the Future Fintech Champions (FFC) initiative, this time with the support of the MCB Group.
The FFC, a program which spans over one year, aims to develop the skills and knowledge of aspiring Mauritian leaders in the field of Fintech.
This program, described as a first in the region, gives FFCs mentoring and access to workshops, events, regulatory discussions, internships and other MAFH initiatives, Le Mauricien reported.
The MCB group is the main sponsor of the 2022 cohort, which brings together 24 students from eight universities: University of Mauritius, African Leadership University, Curtin University Mauritius, Middlesex University Mauritius, Mauritius Institute of Training and Development, Université des Mascareignes, ‘AMITY (Mauritius) and the University of Technology.
Last year, MAFH conducted the first pilot project with a group of 20 students from six local universities.
According to Michal Szymanski, CEO of MAFH, Mauritius is among the 54 African countries to benefit from the training.
“The private sector needs 21st century skills and training young people for jobs that do not yet exist is a way to contribute to the future of the country,” he said.
