Air Mauritius sells Airbus A330 to US company

Air Mauritius has sold one of its Airbus A330s to an entity identified as MonoCoque Diversified Interests LLC (MDI) , according to reports.

MDI has, in turn, assigned the title and interest of the aircraft to the Irish arm of aerospace asset finance specialist Aquila Air Capital (Ireland) DAC (Aquila Air Capital).

The Airbus A330-200 was delivered in Marana, Arizona in November 2021.

“The sale of the [A330] is part of the Air Mauritius restructuring plan,” Air Mauritius officer-in- charge Indradev Buton has been quoted as saying.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

“MDI will manage the aircraft for Aquila Air Capital and is excited to add the A330-200 to our managed passenger portfolio. We look forward to seeing the twelve-year-old aircraft back in the sky soon,” said MDI’s Manager Mary Alice Keyes.

The General Electric powered aircraft, formerly registered 3B-NBL, will begin maintenance and preparations for its return to the skies in early 2022.

Meanwhile, dissidents shareholders pursue their legal battle against the compulsory acquisition of their shares at a low price (Rs5.80).
