Health authorities issue revised isolation measures for COVID-19 patients

The Ministry of Health has announced revised measures regarding isolation periods for COVID-19, effective Saturday 19 February, 2022.

COVID-19 positive patients will henceforth have to self-isolate for 7 days (instead of 10 as was previously the case) following a positive COIVID-19 result, as attested by a medical certificate.

Upon completion of the 7-days self-confinement period, the person will be allowed to resume normal activities on the 8th day following his/her positive test result without any necessity for an exit test.

And if a person is still symptomatic after his 7-days self-confinement period, he/she should report to the Domiciliary Monitoring Unit before resuming normal activities.

The revised measures also state that all household/direct contacts of COVID-19 positive patients, will henceforth no longer be required to self-isolate.

They can pursue with their normal daily activities while complying to all sanitary measures in force.

Nonetheless, they will need to scrupulously maintain all sanitary measures at all times (proper wearing of face mask, hand hygiene, social distancing and adequate ventilation.

If a household/direct contact of a COVID-19 positive patient starts to have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, he/she shall go to a COVID-19 Testing Centre for a medical consultation.

These measures also apply to all health care workers who are household/direct contacts of COVID-19 positive patients.
