Day off for those who need to get vaccinated, says new regulation

New government regulations allow employees to get a day off in order to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

However, the employees have the obligation to present their vaccination card to prove that they were indeed vaccinated on that day.

Employees tested positive for COVID-19 or who must self-isolate or who have been hospitalized in a public or private health facility, will still get their salary.

The absences will be deducted from their paid sick leave, bank of accumulated sick leaves, annual leaves or vacation Leaves.

These measures apply to any employee governed by the Workers’ Rights Act and the Remuneration Regulations under the Employment Relations Act, including employees whose basic salary does not exceed a total of Rs 600,000 per year.

Employees who not agree to having any absence from work deducted from paid leaves or when the employee does not have any leave left, it will be considered leave without pay.

These regulations took effect on February 10.
