Opposition parties say NO to Electronic Voting System

Opposition parties are against the introduction of an Electronic Voting System in Mauritius. “This will make fraud even easier,” according to MMM leader Paul Bérenger.

He has been quoted in Le Mauricien newspaper as announcing that a committee, chaired by senior lawyer Antoine Domingue, is currently preparing a report to demonstrate that the Electronic Voting System is unconstitutional.

Electronic voting, according to Bérenger, has also been rejected in Germany.

The Platform of Hope, which brings together the main opposition parties (except the Labour Party) has also set up a second committee to work on new electoral procedures.
