Man on motorcycle killed after hitting fallen tree on the road

A 55-year-old man was killed after striking a tree on the road in a Trou-aux-Biches motorcycle collision on early Thursday morning.

According to Le Mauricien newspaper, Ramjeet Gosto, an employee of Triolet Bus Service (TBS) was on his way to his place of work after the Meteorological Services lifted cyclone Batsirai warning class IV, when he crashed into the fallen tree.

The accident reportedly happened around on the coastal road near Le Récif hotel.

When SAMU arrived, he had already died after sustaining serious injuries.

The accident has triggered an outcry on social media – with many criticizing the abrupt lifting of the cyclonic warning while heavy rain and gusts still blow on the island.
