Coming up: A National Troupe to showcase Mauritian arts and talents
The Traditional Mauritian Sega was inscribed in 2014 on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Mauritius will soon have a National Troupe that will adopt the idea of preserving the Mauritius identity by presenting expressive arts and artists that reflect the Mauritian character in its best form.

According to cabinet papers, the project has been approved and will involve the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to be registered as “National Troupe of Mauritius Ltd”, for managing and operating the National Troupe.

The new entity will be required to produce highly artistic shows reflecting the Mauritian contemporary culture and cultural heritage, specifically designed for national, regional and international audiences.

It will comprise singers, dancers, actors and other performing artists.
