Bhadain to sue the State and police over controversial arrest

Reform Party’s Roshi Bhadain has accused a senior police officer of having hatched a conspiracy to frame him in a case of theft that happened 10 years ago.

He was speaking this week-end at the press conference of the Entente de l’Espoir – which brings together several opposition parties, excluding the Labour Party.

He also announced that he is suing and seeking Rs50million as damages from the State, the Police Commissioner and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hayman Dass Ghoora.

Bhadain was arrested in December 2021 by the team led by ASP Ghoora, head of the Major Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT). The politician was eventually released after paying a bail of Rs15,000 and offering a security of Rs50,000.
