Health and Wellness Minister Kailesh Jagutpal has described those criticizing his participation at a Christmas party as “mal élevé” (ill-mannered).

He was responding to questions from the media over a video clip gone viral showing him singing and dancing at a Christmas party without face-mask and without maintaining social distancing with other guests.

“I think it’s pretty ill-mannered to delve into my family life and make it become a public affair,” he said.

“I have heard that there are people who are taking legal action or even filed a police complaint in this matter. I leave it to the institutions concerned to investigate. I’ll get back to it when required. Let’s not make comments or reach conclusions. Any ‘fault’ will have to be determined by legal institutions,” said.

Defi Media reported that social activist Bruneau Laurette reportedly filed a police complaint against the Minister of Health on Wednesday.

He reportedly accused Kailesh Jagutpal of “breach of Quarantine Act”. He also called for his resignation.
