Met Office issues heavy rain, thunderstorm warning

Parts of Mauritius could be lashed by thunderstorms and heavy showers on Sunday afternoon.

The Met Office has issued a Special weather warning which runs until 4pm on Monday 27 December.

Forecasters have warned that atmospheric conditions remain moist and unstable over our region, thus favouring the formation of active clouds over the island.

The warning says: ” These  active clouds will cause moderate to locally heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms.”

During thunderstorms, the public has been urged to remain in safe places and avoid open areas, sea ventures and sheltering under trees.
