Financial regulator issues guidelines on corporate & green bonds

The Financial Services Commission has issued guidelines for the Issue of corporate and green bonds in Mauritius, effective as from 23 December 2021.

These guidelines, which clarify the regulatory roles of the FSC in supervising such financial instruments, are said to bein line with international norms, describe the practices and procedures to be adopted by issuers of corporate and green bonds.

The guidelines apply to all reporting issuers registered under the SA and issuers as defined under section 2 of the SA satisfying the requirements of part 4.1 of these Guidelines and undertaking a minimum size issue of Rs100 million or equivalent.

The minimum size issue threshold of Rs100 million or equivalent will not be applicable for issue of green bonds.

However, issuers of green bonds instruments will still have to comply with the provisions of these guidelines.
