Lawyer and social activist arrested over IBA protest

Lawyer Rama Valayden and social activist Raouf Khodabaccus were arrested by Central CID for their participation in what police tag as an “illegal gathering” outside parliament on Tuesday.

They were released on parole pending the provisional charge under the Public Gathering Act was lodged before the district court of Port Louis.

The lawyer and social activist were protesting against the IBA Amendment Bill, which was passed on that day.
