Bank of Mauritius: Drop in Broad Money Liabilities

Broad Money Liabilities (BML) of the Bank of Mauritius increased by 1.9%  as at end-October 2021 compared to a month ago.

The year-on-year growth of BML slowed from 17% in September 2021 to 12.8% in October 2021.

In its Monetary Developments: October 2021, the BoM said that, over the month, net foreign assets (NFA) of depository corporations contracted by 3.2% to Rs838.0 billion.

Year-on-year, NFA grew by 14.7%, compared to a growth of 10.5% in September 2021.

Claims on other sectors (excluding financial derivatives) went up by 3.7% to Rs623.2 billion in October 2021, representing an annual growth of 17.1% compared to 20.1% in September 2021.

Net claims on the central government increased by 15.3% to Rs126.6 billion in October 2021.
