Controversial project in Tamarin to keep going

The controversial Legend Hill project in Tamarin will go ahead as no official has been lodged by the president of the village of Grande-Rivière-Noire or that of Tamarin requesting to suspend ongoing works.

This was revealed by Deepak Balgobin, Acting Minister of Local Government in Parliament.

The 23-apartment Legend Hill project, promoted by a French company, has been denounced by NGOs and locals “as a crime against nature.”

Hundreds of residents had protested against the project in the streets of Tamarin in February.

Authorities said the project has satisfied all legal and environmental conditions.
